Is there a way to search projects?
For example, I want to search for corner tables.
The search block searches all of the site.
Thanks
Dennis

I am not sure if I understand you correctly. I typed corner table in search and as usual, the first 4-5 are off the site advertisements but the rest show lumber jock’s projects.

This is how you search using the TAG option. What’s cool about this method is that you will get all the THUMBNAIL pictures of the projects in the search results.

On your browser window where you typed in LUMBERJOCKS.COM to get to the site (also know as the ADDRESS BAR) you would type the following to search for projects that have the tag TABLE .

http://lumberjocks.com/projects/tag/table

If you want to seach for other TAGS just replace the word TABLE with what you’re looking for.

Searching for more than ONE word tags is a little different. For example if you wanted to search for SIDE TABLE you would have to type in SIDE+TABLE (not necessarily in all caps).

For those posting projects, this is one reason to add TAGS to your project postings. It makes it easier for people to search through the 143,000 plus projects here on LJ. Also, when you add tags, think about the terms people would search for your projects.

This is the TAGS that someone used with their project as an example:

Here is another example of tags used with a project posting:

If you’ve posted projects but didn’t add TAGS, you can always go back to those projects and EDIT the posting and add tags to it.

Hope this helps.

To pin your search to only pages in the project area, use this:

corner table and inurl:projects

You’ll notice that projects have “projects” in the URL. Adding “and inurl:projects” narrows down the search to that.

I cannot start a new topic because it says “You cannot post a new topic until your first post has been reviewed and approved.” I used the contact us form several times but no answer. Hopefully someone will see this and either fix it or tell me to get lost so I don’t worry about it any more.

One of the ways I’ve got ideas for projects searches was to go to www.bing.com/images then type in “corner tables” or what other images you’d like to see, in the bing image search. you will also have tabs on the image pages with similar suggested searches.

That’s exactly what I tell potential clients to do, and what I do for ideas on new projects. I think the thread was originally about searching projects on LJ, and the “and inurl:projects” I posted about above will do that.

In the search engine enter your topic and click. The first 4 or 5 results are normally ads, just like a google search, scroll down and you’ll see the results your looking for, or change the name of the search, corner table, next try end table, entry table, or hall table. Once you see a project pic you like, go to that LJ’s home page to check out his other projects.

This may be a dumb question but I have tried searching using both Safari and Chrome (MacOS) and cannot see a way to get to the next page of search results. The title at the top of the searches indicates 709 search results but when I scroll down to the bottom of the page there is no next button, only a Google ad; is this covering the button? I am new to the site and see that there are a great many helpful and knowledgable people here but so far the website itself (forum software) has been frustrating to use.

I’m having that same problem today. Used to I could see where to click to find the next page of results. Now it’s… missing.

At least I am not the only one that is having problems. For a little bit there I thought I was just being blind.

Pinterest is also a good place to look.
