Topic tags/keywords: bar top finishing question for zircote

So I built a live edge sir Cote bar top before researching how to finish it. Now I don’t know what is best. Everywhere I read says that schallac is best but there will be issues with water rings from cold glasses. Any recommendations?

Thanks
Swinks

Epoxy is a good choice for a bar top as it’s hard and is resistant to water

funny thing about epoxy, I have had the exact opposite experience with it, scratches super easy and leaves indentations even after its cured when you put heavy stuff on it, they go away after a few days. At least with this stuff https://www.countertopepoxy.com/, if you go with epoxy stay away from them.

Shellac is not a good choice for a bar top, as alcohol will dissolve it. Oil based poly would be my choice. Very tough and water and alcohol resistant.
