Due to the restrictions on some of these types of wood, I think I would definitely check into it carefully. When was it imported and if recently, is there paperwork and what. Everything might be in order and no problems.

So that’s around $11/bf – seems a bit steep —- sorry, just had to do it. :)

I’m not really up on the market for rare vintage wood, but seeing the price some people are asking for wood ripped out of a rotting barn that fell down, it doesn’t seem to bad. I guess the question is what can you make out of it, and can you make a good profit off of it?

If its a column it may be faced with Rosewood and the core could be something different.

If it was true rosewood it would be worth we’ll over 11$ bdft. Well over.

Pretty sure CITES has banned just about any and all international shipping of rosewood.

I’ve heard of planes bought on eBay to be sent to the UK returned to sender by customs because of the rosewood totes. Even though this particular one didn’t have rosewood.

Make 100% sure you can ship it here before you even think about buying.

I don’t use generally use exotics, so I just did a quick search on a site I’ve used in the past. It said $8.80 for Indian rosewood – I just realized it was a sq ft of veneer. Seems you can still get Indonesian, but it’s $30 /bf.

So, that’s quite the bargain if it’s real rosewood.
