Took a little drive out to the log yard today and !
Dang it I couldn’t help myself and bought 4 logs
One large walnut with a 3-way crotch
And 3 figured maple
I
Was hopping to get a couple small logs
Ya right
Then he says he is hauling a massive walnut to the mill and will take mine free of charge as he is going anyway
Well then size just got bigger
Way bigger
Started eyeing a really nice massive maple
Had to be like 4-5’ or more at the base and about 25’ long
Decided I did not want to try and lift a slab after cutting so I passed
It was supper nice though
I will be stocked up for the winter this year for sure

Nice (future) lumber. I have the same issue with not buying tools that I didn’t intend to.

I just cannot afford to buy the wood slabs for a reasonable price to do the projects I like
Big wood !
So I buy the whole dang log and have it cut
I then take what I want and sell off the rest

Looking forward to seeing what that crotch looks like. I might have to take a slice of that off of your hands.
