Hey my name is mike. I am new and learning. I am learning on my own and some from YouTube. I live in florida and would like to meet some people who dont mind teaching. I am trying to keep away from power tools. I find doing it all with hand tools is more relaxing and rewarding. Anyways I posted some pics of the stuff I made. My jointery needs major work. I rush a lot.
Also if anybody knows a place to get hardwoods in Brevard County let me know. Homedepot here sucks. Thickest hard wood is 3/4 in red oak. I am not looking to glue up every project.

I go down to Sebastian Inlet fairly often.
there is a guy in Melbourne that advertises on C/L but the page I had saved
on his store was deleted before I could visit his place . . . he has DOZENS of species
of wood already cut into lumber, turning blocks and slabs for tables or whatever you need.
keep searching lumber and wood in Melbourne and you should find him.
welcome aboard !! there are several members here from the Central FL area.

there is a valued member in MB named Harold.
he works more than he plays, so it is a bit difficult getting his attention.
very nice work in your photos, btw.

Oh that oak. I posted that for a buddy. He was hoping someone would talk him down $500. No takers so he is making a workbench out of it. It will probably crack and cup while it’s drying. I told him it wasnt a good idea to use yet.
His dad owns a bunch of acreage up in North fl. They cut trees every so often. He hasnt bought the chainsaw sawmill jig yet. It was pretty rough cuts.
I can’t delete the post since its under his email. He doesn’t even own a computer.

I would use it, but I have no place to store wet lumber.

Have your say...
