Topic tags/keywords: drill press delco

I recently ran across a posting for a 16 speed heavy duty delco drill press on craigslist. The only information that the seller had was that it was a Delco 1 hp that he had used a couple of times and was taking up space. When I tried to google this for product reviews it doesn’t seem to exist. It appears to be in good condition from the photo. But I don’t want to drive an hour for something thats junk. Have any of you heard of this?

Delco Products, is/was an arm of GM, making brakes, shocks, and a lot of GM parts. I don’t know if this is absolutely the case, but being near Dayton, Ohio a big hub for Delco until they closed all the plants a while back. Anyhow there are thousands of tools around this area that were once in a Delco plant, and the users/owners call them a Delco drill press, or whatever.

As far as products they made that were non car part I am only aware of motors, and grinders I think maybe you have a drill Press it might have a Delco motor on it, and the current owner is only see that plate.

Looks like folks have their motors/grinders from all around

OWWM says motors too.

It’s ironic I saw this post today and I just bought the exact model you are talking about this past week. It seems like better than average although I haven’t used it much at this point. I do need to find replacement parts but have had no luck so far. It’s like you said, it’s like it never existed. Did you buy the machine?

No, I did not kind of seemed to be iffy for the money and the drive time required. I actually picked up a masterforce 12” drill press from menards after finding a favorable review of it on this site. So far it has worked perfectly and I have had no complaints or issues with it.

Have your say...
