Topic tags/keywords: question wood toy

There is a 9 year old neighbor kid with whom i have built a few of LOWES “build and grow” wood toy kits. He really loves building the vehicles. Unfortunately we will soon be building the last vehicle in the series.
Can any one recommend any similar vehicle kit (truck, monster truck, race car, bulldozer etc.) that i can build with him?
I really don’t want to spend over $20 per kit (Lowes kits are about $12). I also don’t want to make the parts. I simply want to get the kit and assemble with him. Cherrytree toys seems nice, but i cannot afford them (about $50).
Melissa and doug toys (amazon) don’t seem right.
The ponte collection (amazon) seems possible, but maybe too complicated(?). Also glue is required, no nails. Does any one have comments on these or any other suggestions?

Just say NO to anything that leads to “Teds woodworking plans” it’s more virus/malware than anything about a plan.

ShopSmith has some free plans

They used to have past issues of Hands On the free SS magazine there, but I don’t see it anymore. It just keeps slipping away, piece by piece.
