Topic tags/keywords: question tip identify wood

Hello everybody,
Would you be able to identify this wood? Please find enclosed a couple of pictures of the tree that it comes from, its bark, and a fallen branch. I have taken these pictures in Italy during the summer, in a park next to a river.

Thank you.

Looks like an olive tree.

Looks like a dead tree; that’d make it deadwood.

Sorry, that’s no help… Hope someone can identify it.

I’ve been informed that it’s always alder. ;)

It looks like the bark my uncle used to have on an old black cherry tree.

Have your say...
