I was given a table that was headed for the burn pile. Thought it might be cherry but now I think it might just be a veneer. The feet are brass or copper. The table needs a lot of work. Might turn it into a game table. Just want to know if I am getting in over my head. Ive built murphy beds and cabinets but they have mostly been painted. Any thoughts on how I should start? Or should it go back in the burn pile? Thanks.

The top is likely lumber core plywood. I have one that is similar with mahogany veneer. Make sure you know how thick the surface veneer is before you put your ROS to it. It looks quite salvageable to me. Strip the top finish and refinish with oil base poly.
