Probably. IMO it’s right in the ball park of what’s fair….cast wing, Unifence, and condition are all positives. Lack of a splitter and mobile base might prompt me to offer a bit less or at least ask what his best price is.

It’s on the high side IMO. While the cast iron wings and Unifence are nice extras, the ad also states that the motor is included but it ‘needs a motor plate’. That sets off warning bells for me, as it obviously had something break that still needs fixing, and other parts could also be damaged and/or missing as well. Besides the normal consumable stuff (bearings, belts, blades, etc..), It’s the broken/missing stuff that really can bite you in the wallet, and it all adds up quickly.

Cheers,
Brad

PS: I would get the WT running so you have a working machine first – which will give you the time to find a good deal on CL for an upgrade. Best deals are always found when you aren’t in a hurry :)

I would pass on that if I were you, or get it at a reduced price. I don’t live in an area with a ton of old machines being sold, but i can get an UNISAW for not much more every once in a while.

Ditto on not being in a hurry. $425 is too much. Motor plate is missing for a reason. The don’t just disappear. Besides if you wait around (and troll a lot) you will probably find a Delta Cabinet Saw for $550.

I’d probably pass too Tony. I’d at least find out why the motor plate is missing and see if you can source a new one. Check trunions carefully for cracks or slop. Like I said, at that price, I’d probably let it go. But I wouldn’t make fun of ya if you bought it either ;-)

Not missing the motor plate but in fully working condition then yes. Same saw I’ve been using since the late 90s.

Agree with the others. This is overpriced. If you’re willing to drive and really want a contractor saw, here’s a nicer Powermatic for $400:

And as most will tell you, you can find a used Unisaw anywhere in the $500-$1000 range depending on age, condition, etc. If it’s in your budget, that’s probably the way to go.

That Piwermatic is the saw I have. Great saw and that fence is excellent. $400 is a bit steep IMO but I would probably pay it if I had to.

Sorry…I did not see that its missing the motor plate. Not a show stopper, but should include a big discount for that wart. 6 hours is a long way to go for that saw….I’d keep looking.
