The VFD blew on a 3 phase 5hp planer and for just a little bit more $$ I can bolt on a new warrantied L1409t Baldor 5hp single phase motor.

I thought I could somehow use the original mag starter and on/off switch. I don’t think I can as the new motor is 23amps and the original mag starter says 18amps.

Anyone have some guidance in this area? If I can’t use the starter, can I replace internals or just get one rated for 5hp and single phase? What about the push button on/off, can that still be used?

I’d just get a new 5hp mag starter that has the on/off buttons integrated in the case and do away with the old button.
