Ok. I decided to make this chair with some 6/4 white oak that I’ve had around forever. However, it calls for 2.5” thick uprights. Maybe it’s just because I’m using white oak, but the uprights seem a lot thicker and heavier that I’m thinking they need to be. I feel like they look heavier than they do in the picture in article too.

Also, the stretcher is in a mortise that’s only 1/8” deep on each side?

Has anybody made this chair? Did you follow the plans as written? Did it work?

I have NOT made that chair.

I do know from past mistakes; the plans are not GOSPEL on anything. They are a place to start from.

If you think that you know a better way—-TRY IT! Maybe on a cheap piece pf wood first to see, then the lossis only time of it does not work out.

Good Luck!
