I’ve been wanting a second bandsaw for the last several years, so I could keep one set up for scroll work and one set up for re-saw. I already have a Powermatic, but, per the circumstances set out below, it appears I’m acquiring a Rikon solid base, 14” able to take up to a 3/4” blade.

A good friend got carried away sanding walnut with no dust collection or respirator. He paid hard for it and, now is recuperating, but slowly. Months after the fact, he’s still coughing up walnut, and the pulmonary specialist is talking about pressure washing his lungs, so to speak.

Because of the hit he took, he’s looking in other directions to amuse himself, be it carving, sewing or whatever. As he put it, since I have dust collection (two big and one small unit), he can make the hour drive to my house to cut pieces for his dulcimers or what have you’s.

I’ve given him a lot of toys (okay, I’m his equivalent of a pusher) ranging from routers to edge sanders either free or at absurd prices. His response, in light of his circumstances, was to offer me his Rikon, 14”, with less than an hour of run time, for a price and sale conditions one can only dream of.

Because I gave him a couple thousand dollars worth of tools (conservative resale value) and only charged him a Ruger American (about $500.00), and he sold the edge sander alone for $600.00, he charged me five hundred, and gave me forever to pay.

Looks like it’s time to re-organize the shop, for the umpteenth time.

Sorry to hear about your friend. But nice that he has returned the favor for tools.

I too have a dual bandsaw setup. PM 14” and Rikon 14” deluxe.

I too have a duel bandsaw setup
A 14” for re-saw and a 12” for scrolling
Don’t like changing blade all the time
