Topic tags/keywords: switch f-1000a jointer

The switch on my rock solid 30+ year old Hitachi F-1000A planer jointer has failed (part number 937-218). I have not been able to find a direct replacement since this machine was discontinued in 1996. Any leads on a direct replacement would be greatly appreciated. If I am not able to find the same switch, any suggestions for a best alternative would also be appreciated.

You might check the switch for a makita 2030 or 2040. My understanding is the Hitachi F1000A, my recently purchased Ryobi AH-115 and the Makita 2030 or 2040 were all made in the same factory. There are more parts available for the makita than the hitachi and Ryobi but a lot of the parts are supposed to be interchangeable.

I have had my F-1000A since 1985. Great tool! However, I had to replace the power switch several times and now it is gone again and I cannot find a replacement. Any body have any suggestions?

If you pull the switch out, there should be a part number from whoever manufactured it. If digikey doesn’t have a direct replacement, they’ll have something with the same power rating.
