Should I use half overlay hinges on a frameless cabinet right up against the sheetrock?

If your concern is about door clearance against the side wall, then no. You should install a filler strip between the wall and cabinet. About 3” usally provides enough clearance for door swing, knobs, etc and allows some material to scribe and trim.

Thanks for the reply! Someone else built cabinets, I’m sizing existing doors to new boxes. Cabinets mashed up against sheetrock. I’m worried that door won’t open w/full overlay hinges
