Topic tags/keywords: delta 28-275 band saw

I’m looking to buy my first band saw, and I have come across a, Delta 28-275, for $300. I have only seen pictures of it, thus far, and I t looks to be in very good condition. It does have made in USA on the housing, and model number tag. The serial number stars with 97, is that the year of manufacturing?
I’m looking for some insight on pricing, and is this one of the “good “ ones out there?
Thanks in advance for your opinions!

I’m not sure of the manufacturers codes. There is another posting regarding this model number where there was s consensus that the older Delta 14” were good saws. Personally I own one and like it. Only limit for me has been resaw capacity. I think the price is pretty good at $300.

I had that saw and it’s a good one. That particular model (I think) is on the open stand and probably only has a 1/2 HP motor, which I found to be really underpowered….especially after I added the riser block. Not a problem, it’s easy to change motors. All the Delta USA saws are pretty much the same, it was the stands/motors/and extras that usually caused the change in model numbers. I’ve seen that saw for less, but $300 isn’t bad and it will serve you well.
