Hey all. I have a question about the grizzly g1182hw jointer. I found one on craigslist that is brand new. This was bought in a package of tools when the original owner passed away. Its never been used and im having trouble getting information on the value. Right now i got him down to $400. I would really appreciate some input. Any information would help. Thank you!

400 for a 6” jointer might be expensive for your area or it could be the norm. If it’s brand new, I might be tempted to buy it.

Heres a picture of it. It hasnt been used and looks to be in great shape. I havent seen it yet but theres no rust or signs of wear. This will be my first jointer so i need some guidance!

It’s a good jointer. I just sold a similar one to make room but $400 seems a bit high.

If you need it, get it.

That’s the exact jointer I bought back in 2001-2002 range. It’s been a great 6” workhorse. It’s the same basic Geetech design as the earlier Jet, Sunhill, GI, Ridgid, and others. Mine was $297 plus $55 s/h when new. $400 isn’t a terrible price, but it is more than it cost new. New condition is nice, but it also means unproven, and without warranty in this case. Will they let you run it?

Link to specs and manual on Grizzly's website

I’d expect to get ~ $250-$300 for mine if I sold it, but I’d probably try for a bit more just to test the waters.

I have been looking for jointers the last few months. Even though it’s more than it was new, based on what I’ve seen I’d buy it. Tell him what they sold for new. Maybe he’d drop the price a little more. Worth a try.

Jade if you do buy the grizzly jointer. Do not lift it, pull it,push it ,drag it from the ends of the tables.
Lifting or moving it from the base is the ticket. But if you have to, try to sling it close as possible to the middle or above the hand wheels.
Good luck
