Hi Guys,
I am very new here so here goes!

My wife just got a Sargent plane at a car boot sale, it appears to be a number 5 size, 14” long with 2” iron marked HERCULES, SARGENT & Co, Made in USA
Now I have cleaned it up it is actually in very nice order with the original finish good and no damage.
Having looked at some examples on here this one does not seem to match any as the frog bed is different.

I think this is a 5414 but would welcome any thoughts please.
Regards, Martin

That is a #1414 Hercules. It’s the correct base. It’s an earlier version so it should be a decent user.

Have one of those too. It is now set up as a scrub plane, and works very well. The sole was/is not dead flat, but that’s no deal breaker on a scrub.
The iron is quite good as it holds the edge very well.
Enjoy yours.
$18.00 from a local “antique” shop.
