The May issue of WOOD magazine recommended the BAS350 Craftsman 14” bandsaw as a Top Tool. When I went on line to possibly buy one I keep getting messages that that item is unavailable. Does anyone know if that saw is no longer made, that Sears just doesn’t handle that item, that the saw can be purchased from some other company, or what? Trying to deal with Sears\Craftsman over the internet or even by phone is very frustrating and usually non-productive.

I wouldn’t recommend any Craftsman ww’ing machines.

You need to check some other reviews besides Wood magazine ;-)

I have the Craftsman BAS350 and it’s been a good bandsaw for the price. I’m not a heavy bandsaw user so I have no complaints about it. It’s a Rikon clone other than it having a shorter blade, 99.75”. The Rikon fence 13-900 and mobile base 13-321 fit it. With the current state Sears is in the BAS350 may not be available anymore. I don’t see it listed on the Craftsman site.

I would avoid dealing with sears. They will likely go out of business entirely in the next few years due to unsustainable business practices. Try looking at Grizzly or even the Porter Cable model Lowe’s sells is decent in that price range it just needs a fence, if you care about it depending on what you are using it for.

Black & Decker owns craftsman now. So I’d assume their stuff will pop up everywhere in the near future. I know they’re in Ace around here and heading to Lowe’s
