Topic tags/keywords: jointer delta jointer price question good deal buy help opinion

I recently found a used Delta X5 6” Jointer for sale. After reaching out to the seller, it is being sold for $400. Would you consider this a good price? From the pictures provided, the unit seems to be in pretty good condition. Additionally, the seller has stated that it is also in good working condition.

Have you googled that model number?
It’ll give you an idea of what they’re selling or asking for them

I think this varies a lot by region. For my area if it is in good condition its a fair price, not a great price but a fair price. If you are interested in it make sure you try to haggle. Try offering 300 and if he takes it great if not maybe you can settle at 350.

I picked up that same model, in basically brand new condition with a mobile base, for 350. I thought that was a good price. Around here, good used jointers can be hard to come by and I don’t think the price is out of line, so I’d try to get it a little cheaper but if he won’t budge, I’d probably still buy at 400

That jointer is your standard 37-275 Delta that sold for years with very little changes to them… the “X5” model was just a marketing promotion, where they jacked the price up and slapped on a 5 year warranty. IIRC, they were selling new for right around $600 and on sale for around $500 or a bit less. Nice little machines, but the asking price is on the high side for sure.

Cheers,
Brad
