wow – that is a pretty bold and very open question !!!
(especially from a new member with no location or other information in his/her profile).

I would suggest that if you have a project that requires a certain product,
then ask for references for that one product – not for a whole list of vendors and their credentials.

I don’t find it overly bold, and time as a member of the site shouldn’t affect what they can ask.

The fact is, I know of no compilation of data about such a thing on here. There are mentions of experiences both positive and negative in forum posts, reviews, etc, so a site search might provide some information. Also, on the Internet in general there are many consumer-oriented sites where people can share their experiences with businesses. A search in your web browser might turn up some stuff there as well. I know I’ve found useful information, good and bad, doing that.

Every company makes mistakes so you will read negative reviews about all of them. What’s different is how they handle mistakes and most of the bigger companies do a pretty good job because they measure profits against man hours and appeasing a customer quickly is cheaper in the long run than battling it out. When it comes to local companies, your best source of information is local clubs, cabinetmakers, and contractors. Ultimately there is no 100% unbiased source for reviews.

Yes, there is a list of vendors used by LJ members on this site.
sort of…...
Tool vendors are usually under the reviews tab. :)

If you want information about a specific vendor, tool, or regional area use the search function. Often when a tool has more than one review, all of the reviews for that tool and vendor will be present in a single list by search tool.

Wood vendors can be tricky to find, as they can start/end without notice. Several states/regions have some users that create and post updates to a wood source or sawyer list. There are also various posts by users asking for wood sources near a city or state, that end up being a regularly updated list. All you do is search for wood source posts in US state of interest, or post your own question.
If your real interest by this question is finding new wood sources, there are sites like dedicated to finding wood. I also find Google is easily able to find even smallest hardwood supplier or sawyers hidden in remote backwoods providing they have a website by simply searching for ‘hardwood lumber’ plus city of state of interest.

Best Luck.

PS –
Before you tell me that LJ vendors are not organized as a single list in a single thread, or that ratings are hard to find; I point you to Amazon and ask how would you find same information for all of the vendors they carry?
Answer => By using web search tools. :)

Hope this helps, ignore it if does not.
