Topic tags/keywords: wood rack lumber rack cleaning organization

When you have a small work space, you have to get creative. That means keeping a lot of lumber outside. Today I pulled the lumber racks down and spaced them away from the wall the width of a 2×4 ( 3 1/2” ). This allows me to slide sheets of plywood in behind the other stuff. ‘Cause nothing takes up a small work shop like a sheet of plywood.

Because I consolidated 2 piles of junk into one, my racks were going to have a lot of wasted space. Luckily, as I was cleaning I found 2 pieces of rebar on the ground. I just drilled a hole in each upright and hammered them in. Used up the wasted space, it was a quick fix, and they’re strong.

Anyway, just a little quick and dirty job but it always feels good to get ‘er done!

Amen to that. I currently store extra plywood in my kids Space shuttle they don’t use anymore.

This will probably come as a galactic shock to everyone, but….....................work space doesn’t necessarily have to be “small” to get cluttered up. I just finished a stand alone “detached” 30X30 shop. 900 square feet seemed like a reasonable size for a wood shop…..I don’t even have it all set up yet and already need more room!!!!

Sometimes, a SMALL shop limits how much can get into it…..there is no way I could ever even get a full sheet of plywood into the house, make three 90 degree turns under a 7’ ceiling, then down the steps to the shop…..have to set up sawhorses out on the back porch/patio, to cut one sheet down.

True, which is why if I had it to do over again I would have never married my ex, saved a ton of money. Bought the 7 acres of land I found at a bargain. Got a trailer and moved in and then built a 10,000 sq ft shop. While I might fill it all up it would have taken longer to do.

I am thinking about refurbing to store plywood and some metal pipe etc etc. Make the cockpit open up like a C-5 galaxy for maximum opening. Then maybe paint a custom sign on the side. Intergalactic Movers.

Dont ruin the space Shuttle when you get a monent drop by the aircraft boneyard somewhere in the USA and get a real Galaxy. I bet the kids will be back in a flash quick smart!

Thanks. I took photos for years but recently decided to start doing videos. It’s a LOT more work but I like doing it. Sometimes I go back and sift through my images and make a video using all stills ala Ken Burns style.
