I wouldn’t mind buying a brick or floorboards from the complex as nostalgia items.

That sucks, but this is how everything goes now, knock down the old buildings and put up some ugly condos. I wonder if stamford wrecking might be selling some of that stuff.

That is sad to see, but the building was just a shell, so I guess that’s progress for New Brittain development.
I pass the old Disston factory buildings about 3 times a week and think that eventually they will suffer the same fate as they have been boarded up for years.
Can’t help but think about stopping in to the one building that is still in use and asking for permission to take a peek inside the old buildings that are no longer in use before they are gone.

Chicago is taking old buildings like that and turning them into lofts and condos. Some of them are divided up into small business suites.
I like the old architecture better than todays sterile crap. But, on the other side of it, if you can’t get investors, it ain’t gonna happen. Shame, really.
