Hi all,
Does anyone know if the cap iron screw from a Stanley/Bailey plane will thread into a Sargent cap iron?
Thanks!

Stanley has notoriously used non-standard threads on the planes, but oddly enough, I just tried a Stan. screw on my Sargent/Hercules plane that I have converted to a scrub and it fit just fine. Whoda thunk it?

Thanks, Bill. That’s excellent news.

Yeah, before I knew I had a Union plane body I dropped my Stanley iron and lever cap onto the frog and it all fit perfectly. So I was hoping a non-Stanley cap iron would accept the Stanley screw.

Of course I also have to hope the Sargent cap iron slots match up with the blade advance mech on the Union frog. But looks like they’ll probably place nice together.
