Debbie or Cricket? Cricket or Debbie? I’ve been thinking about the Lumberjocks site and trying to understand why it’s changed so much. It all boils down to the sheriff in town. The site was a lot more interesting and exciting when Debbie was sheriff. I have to admit some of the posts got a little out of control but Debbie always seemed to handle the situation. Now a days, the administration is tight…very tight. If you have a subject that goes even a little off kilter the post gets closed. No leeway, not even the proverbial 5 mph.
I understand that speed limits need to be set and enforced but not to the detriment of having some fun. Everyone’s so serious now. Anything that is said that may be even a little out of line puckers a bunch of butts and causes the self righteous to go running and tattle. Then the post is closed.
I think the subjects posted in the coffee lounge should be given the 5 mph. I’m not saying that insults and fighting should be allowed but opinions should be allowed from both sides with a spirited exchange being OK. Not just OK, but encouraged. Except for the very oldest among us our blood pressure needs to rise occasionally just so we know we’re still alive.
The old argument that if you don’t want to have your blood pressure rise then don’t read the coffee lounge subjects will never work. There will always be a deputy sheriff or two that feel the need to monitor the coffee lounge and enforce our rules for us. Why?
BTW, how do you become a deputy sheriff. Is there a training class followed by the pledging of secret oaths or are all of our deputies self appointed?
Cricket, lighten up a little and enjoy life. You might even decide to join into some of the more spirited conversations. You’re as much a member of this site as anyone.

Cricket, I’m well pleased with the job you’re doing. Just so ya know.

You have too much time on your hands. Pondering such things isn’t healthy, and I doubt if you’re going to change anything. Try offering a little useful support to the community rather than going off on weird tangents about member count, and now the admin style. You might be surprised at the leeway you’ll receive.

Cricket, no complaints on how you are running this site. On the 5 mph leeway, it would probably be like if you give an inch, they would want a foot and so on. I am a firm believer that if the speed limit is 65 mph, anything over that is breaking the law.

Woah! That’s just plain rude, especially when you are talking about a volunteer position.

Cricket, keep up the great work!

Are you sure about that, Andy? I was under the impression that the site admin was a paid position, and the person was the admin for other sites as well. LJ is a VerticalScope, Inc site, and from what I can tell they have many dozens, if not hundreds, of web site dedicated to many different subjects.

No. I just ass-umed, and we know what happens when you do that. :-) Still sounded kinda rude to me. Sorry.

I ponder lots of things, what I don’t ponder is taking a claymore mine and looking at the part that say FACE TOWARDS ENEMY and pull the string out then let it back a little to see how far before it goes BOOM. She has the ability and she has proven she will use it, why taunt someone like that?

I guess I’m wrong. I can admit that. Cricket, you’ve got a good fan club. Keep up the good work.
