Topic tags/keywords: question spray gun

I am looking at a used Earlex 5500 on Wednesday and am just looking to see if anyone who owns one has any special things to check. I of course am going to make sure the unit turns on the blower functions just not sure if I will get to some fluids through it or not.

Thank you for any input.

I’m no expert since I’ve only used my Earlex 6003 a few times in the last couple weeks.
But you should be able to spray water thru it.
Does the cup to gun seal not leak?
Do the adjustments work?
- fluid—turn full clockwise (no fluid flow), and back out 1 turn should spray fine, uniform mist
- fan— adjust from horizontal to round to vertical per the owners manual?
Then take it apart to ensure that happens the way it should.
Here’s a link to the manual:

Spraying is awesome! You’ll never go back to a brush.

I’ve sprayed lots of lacquer and deck stain with my 5500. Seems to do a good job. In addition to the above, also check the filter under the unit. When running, it tends to suck up all kinds of gunk. And don’t forget to ask about extra needles, cleaning kit, and the DVD that came with unit.

Just curious, how much is the seller asking?

The seller has all the “tools” that came with it including the viscosity cup, i didn’t see the DVD in the bag but will look tomorrow.

I am not sure if the seller will allow me to run water through it to test or not. I have used numerous HVLP sprayers that use a traditional air compressor so I know my way around sprayers just looking for any earlex specific items.

I’ll just say that if the blower unit operates I can’t go wrong on the price. ill post more if I end up getting it.
