I have an older craftsman planer jointer
You all know the one!
It is a nice machine for what it can do
BUT
I found a Delta long bed one for a $150 with 2 new sets of blades and the knife setting gauge
Was quite far from me so
I call a friend who lives out by it and he is delivering it to me today
Comparing the machines two is like a Suzzy bake oven to a commercial stove!
Just a happy guy
Also any local to me need a very nice planer cheep?
Thanks
Scott

My dad had one of those “jointer planers,” and he was very fond of it. Besides the fact that the beds are awfully short, it always annoyed me that Sears had the nerve to call it a planer. I think they were trying to make naive woodworkers think they somehow had an actual thickness planer.

Of course, in the old days only professional shops and school shops could have a real thickness planer—until Ryobi invented the lunch box planer and made all of our lives easier.
