Sargent…...

Lose the block plane stuff..and you will have the Sargent version of a Stanley #78….Needs the fence, and the depth stop…

The main casting was sold by Sargent under their own name and for Sears’ “Craftsman” line. I have a Craftsman version. I have to say I like it a little better than my Stanley….. But you DO need the fence and depth gauge.

Looks like the fence IS on there….just installed on the other side…left-hand running? Can’t see the other side, to check on the depth stop…wonder if the nicker is still on it

Chalk one up for ingenuity. Ignorant of the setup/use of the plane, but clever use of block plane cap.
