Topic tags/keywords: delta bandsaw 14

This is from a local CL listing but the person can’t seem to give me the exact model number. Can anyone ID this based on these pictures? I was thinking a 28-2XX but I’m not sure what the XX is exactly?

I think I just answered my own question, looks like a 28-276 and I’ll probably steer clear of it

$300, I don’t feel great about it at that price

Not the greatest price but it looks to be in good shape.

I found a Jet JWBS-14CS for $400, thinking that might be the better deal?

Why is the Jet the better saw? I have that model Jet it’s a good saw but it is a Delta clone and is essentially the same saw as the Delta. If paying $100 dollars more for a brand name is a better deal for you go for it.

I don’t think either one is much of a deal. The Jet does come with a fence, so that’s good, but $400 is an awful lot for what is ultimately just a standard Taiwanese 14” band saw.

You’re both right, after more consideration I’m passing on both of these for now.

I was under the impression that the trunnions were more beefy on the Jet saw than the Delta for these models, is that not the case? Also I have read about the Delta having issues vibrating pretty badly and I haven’t read the same things with the Jet. Of course you can’t believe everything you read…

Have your say...
