Topic tags/keywords: bandsaw question

Hey Everyone,

I have come across an issue with a band saw that I recently purchased. It is a used Delta 28-276 and you can see that the table is not square to the band saw blade from front to back. Any ideas? I looked at the trunnions and did not see anything that would indicate they were broken. I can post more photos if needed.

Thanks,
Mike

Not uncommon Mike. Since it won’t effect most work that’s done on the BS, I think most people just leave it. The fix is to shim the table from the trunion to square it up. So in your case, some thin material between the trunion and the table on the front side should take care of it. Should be a one-time fix as long as you don’t have to mess with your wheels.

Yep, mine has the same issue. It’s not a problem for straight cuts or even curves on thin stock (like 3/4 ply for example). Where I ran into an issue was cutting curves on a 5 inch thick bandsaw box. Cutting one way and then meeting the curve cutting the other way resulted in an uneven surface.

Kenny is right, it’s a simple one-time fix. Take the table and the trunions off (or even just loosen the trunions), put in a few metal shims around the front side bolt and remount your table. Repeat until you’re satisfied with the squareness. Could be the blade position on the wheels or the wheel alignment, but this will likely solve the issue and it’s a simple job.

I put some 1/4” washers under the trunnion that bolts to the table.
