Picked this up for cheap, is it worth fussing with?

I recently came across a NEW old stock porter cable 7116 Omnijig 24” with all 6 new templets with new dovetail bits and guides. Is this worth learning to cut dovetails on? I’m new to using any kind of jigs. I know it’s old and obsolete but I wanted to know if it’s going to be more frustrating than it’s worth before I even take it out the box. Thanks

Those are designed for set-it-forget-it
setups. As dovetail jigs go they are about
as straightforward and reliable as you can

That’s good to hear. Only the through dovetail templet is adjustable so I may open her up and start learning soon.

Nice find…...where’d you come up with that thing?

Thanks, locally around New Orleans. It just popped up on Facebook marketplace. Paid $80 but because of the condition and every templet was included I figured it wouldn’t be a big loss if that model wasn’t worth using. It was last minute so I really didn’t have time to research before I purchased it.
Now the shop is almost “complete” haha (we all know you never have everything you need) but my last MAJOR tool for now is a router table/router.. that is a whole other topic!

Have your say...
