Topic tags/keywords: delta dc-380 part 1349417 22-680 pinion gear

I have a Delta 15” planer DC-380, model 22-680 that I am hoping to restore. I have found all the parts I need except the pinion gear, part #1349417. Without that one, I would still have a boat anchor if I bought all the other parts. I have checked all over online, Ebay, etc. to no avail. Does anyone know of a source, used or new where I could purchase this part?

Have you tried McMaster-Carr, Grainger, or MSC?

Hi,

Where I can find a Pinion Part Number: 1349417 for my Delta Planer?? I need this part in order to restore my Old Delta Planer…Do exist a way to use another pinion or any way to mod the gearbox in order to use another more common pinion??

I have searched in every parts store and found nothing!!.....

Take your existing rack and pinion to a supply house that specializes in power transmission. They can find you a match.

Perhaps, define the pinion gear by its pitch and diameter rather than a Delta part number.

It seems likely that Delta would buy a readily available pinion gear and place their part number on it, rather than start from scratch and make a hither-to-non-existent gear.

The original post was 14 months ago, necro thread….

FWIW – there appear to be TWO different pinion gears used on various 15” planer models, as there have been two major clone mfg of this style planer. Been digging into the 15” planers a lot lately with a recent Delta DC-380 and Powermatic 15 rebuild.

According to info gleaned from shellix conversion threads, where people find they need a new pinion due wear issues:
Appears the Jet 15”, Shop Fox 15” Grizzly g1021, Powermatic #15 (all with moving table), use same handed pinion gear (and same gear box). Can get replacement pinion from Grizzly, Jet, or Powermatic parts online (Jet/Powermatic come from same WMH warehouse run by jet parts) that will work.
The Delta DC-380 15” planers, and the Grizzly G0453 use a different handed hellix pinion gear. This type can only be had from Grizzly.
Sorry I forgot which type is right hand hellix, and which is left hand hellix. If you search for the above list of 15” planers for pinion gear, instead exact part number; you can find the same threads I found with the above information.

Just trying to help close this topic, as there are parts available for both types online.

I read a post that stated that the Delta 380 planer was clowned by Grizzly. i forgot which model, but I ordered one and it worked perfectly. The old Delta is again up and running.

Guess the moral to the Delta pinion parts story is count the teeth on existing pinion gear?

14 teeth – g0453 series
https://www.grizzly.com/parts/Grizzly-GEAR-14T/P0453535

or

16 teeth – g1021 series
https://www.grizzly.com/parts/Grizzly-GEAR-16T-V2-12-97/P1021112

Which is same as Jet/PM for $10 more.
