Topic tags/keywords: general international 75-050t mortiser 75-050t question help

To anyone who has a 75-050T, I recently took possession of one from my Dad. He’s had it nearly 10 years and claims to have never used it (or at least it looks brand new apart from the dust on it). I got everything set up in my shop but I cannot seem to tighten the head rotation in place. To be specific, the head tilt is nice and tight, but the head rotation will not stay in place. I found a copy of the manual online and read about the three ratchet levers on the rear of the machine. No matter how hard I crank down the two tighteners on the right rear, the head still rotates with ease.

I’m hoping that I’m simply doing something wrong or there’s a trick to it somehow. I would rather not replace what is supposed to be a top-notch machine! Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
