Topic tags/keywords: question

I just picked up a FREE Craftsman sliding miter saw the model # is 137.212370 The blade guard is broken the laser device is broken and the sliding of the saw is really rough. They did not take very good care of it, the rails have a little rust on them.
I used steel wool on the rails and cleaned it up pretty well but I think I need to replace the Linear Motion Bearing. Looking at Sears for the parts I think I might end up spending $145 on parts. So it seems like a pretty good deal.
Anyone have any suggestions for cheaper places to buy parts for it?
If there is any interest I will post some pictures of it later on.

I think spending $145 to repair that saw is a waste of money when a new Kobalt at Lowes on sale is not a lot more money and you’ll have a warranty. IF the Craftsman was made by Emerson you might want to look at repair parts for the Kobalts because I believe (NOT CERTAIN) that they are made by Emerson as well. As far as the laser is concerned I haven’t found them to be very visible in bright light or really accurate so it may not be worth fixing.
