I'm looking for an old hinge for some ammo crates that I want to make for reenacting. They don't have to be exact but need to be close to the same look. Thanks for any help.
That might be hard to find. Do you have a sturdy bench vise, good size hammer, and maybe a little heat? You may have to buy some hinges and make your own.
I know that finding ones that are just like them is going to be hard. I can't even find ones long enough to bend myself.
I hope somebody can direct me to a dealer that I can order from.
You can get the whole ammo crate at some of the older style Army/Navy surplus stores (not the places that sell cheap knock off military stuff). I have seen them in several stores and actully have 2 of them I got from one of the stores. Or you might try your local National Guard unit, the military still use these things and a lot of times they just toss them.
The Milan Box Corp. doesn't sell to anyone. Only if you are a manufacturer of crates for the military will they even talk to you on the phone about prices for the box hardware. Just found this out now, since I want to make up ones too.
