Topic tags/keywords: question carving custom commission

Hello! I was directed here from a shop on etsy. I do not woodwork myself, but I have been having a very difficult time finding someone who would be able to do a custom order for me, as a gift for a friend. One of my friend’s favorite movies is Brokeback Mountain, and there is a small wooden figure of a cowboy riding a horse in one of the scenes that is quite significant. I thought it would be awesome to be able to give my friend a model of it, but I cannot find anyone who is willing to do it. Is there anyone here that would be willing to take on this project in exchange for payment? Her birthday isn’t until July but I wanted to get started now in order to give people time. I have attached pictures of the figure.

Thank you, please let me know if you or someone you know can help me!

That looks difficult to carve. It would have
some very weak spots. In the movie it
was probably not a wood prop either.

It could be made using an oven-hardening
clay like Fimo. There are clays available
that have wood in them but I don’t know
much about them.

Have your say...
