I picked up a very gently (as in slightly) used Worksharp 3000 off of craigslist today for a hundred bucks. Haven’t even had time to look through the manual yet so perhaps the answer lies there. Anyway, I’m fairly certain it is possible to sharpen a Mortise Chisel on the Worksharp 3000 via the chisel guide below the disc. I’m just looking for confirmation. Am I correct in my assumption? Also, anything I need to look out for that’s different from sharpening a regular chisel?

Yes you can sharpen up to 21/2” wide chisels or plane blades on it. I have had one for several years and find it will sharpen almost anything. Check out Stumpy Nubs web site for a homemade attachment that will make it sharpen wider blades The plan is 10 bucks and once made you are able to sharpen almost all woodworking tools. I love mine I can sharpen a tool in a couple minutes. It also shows you how to get away from using their glass platters and sandpaper.
