Paul, did you get the W1854? I have a Delta Drum Sander 31-255X which is somewhat similar and is the PITS! Lately I’ve had a LOT of issues raising and lowering the table. The major difference between the Delta and the W1854 is the Delta uses a belt and plastic gears. The W1854 uses a sprocket chain and I’m not sure about the gears. If you have the W1854 I’d like to discuss it with you to see if I change to a chain would I resolve my problem? Or should I just get a supermax.

BTW I just looked at the PDF for the Shop Fox and it looks to be much better than the Delta unit I have. The best price I’ve seen is at https://www.utterguys.com/xcart/search.php?mode=search&page=1&keep_https=yes

I just discovered that the Grizzly G0458Z – 18” 1-1/2 HP Open-End Drum Sander w/ VS Feed is the same machine or at least extremely close.
