Folks, I live right outside Morgantown, WV-about an hour and 20 minutes south of Pittsburgh, PA. We have 2 Lowe’s and an 84 lumber here in town and they look at me like a lost puppy when I ask them do you carry Baltic Birch plywood sheets (not cut project panels) or do you carry anything other than single sided oak or maple veneered plywood sheets-They say no and move on. Where can I get decent plywood to do case work??? Baird’s in Ohio to ship 2, 3/4 5’x5’ panels of baltic birch is 239$ for shipping and $120 for the plywood!! Suggestions? Seems like most of the places on line wont ship unless you buy a whole bundle of it. Gene

Gene, these aren’t too close to you, but they are better than no leads at all. CP Johnson was stocking some BB ply although I don’t see it on his site now so a phone call would be warranted. Even further away from you is Colonial who has a great selection of hardwood veneered ply, but is pricey. HTH

You might try calling some of the cabinet shops around your area and ask if they can point you towards a good source. If nothing else, some cabinet shops actually sell materials too.

I live in Morgantown also. And am on the search for some Baltic Birch for my Laser engraver. I have yet to try MBC Woodshop on River Road. Have you tried them? There is a cabinet builder on Greenbag Road called Hunn Cabinets.
Hope we find what we are looking for.LOL!

Its a never ending quest to find high quality plywood. We seem to have one supplier in the Chicago suburbs, Owl Hardwoods, and that’s it. There are a few more in the city, but who wants to go through all the traffic to get there?

Home Depot carries a plywood called Arauco ply. It is made of Radiata pine. I believe the 3/4” (23/32”) panels are 7 ply with a 1/10” face veneer. 11/32, 19/32 and 31/32 panels have 1/8” face veneer. The 23/32 panels weigh 62.6#. They are reasonably priced at around $40 per sheet. The closest HD is probably Bridgeport.
