Like most people, when I leave the house I always make sure I have my wallet, keys and cellphone. Unlike most people, I also make sure I have a jack knife and a small (10’) tape measure. I never leave home without them and I often find them convenient to have with me.

My wife thinks this is strange. I speculate that many of my LJ friends are the same way. Are you?

I have a small Swiss Army knife/money clip that I always carry. In the car is always at least one Dixon Ticonderoga #2 pencil.

My little knife is a small swiss army knife that I keep on my keyring. I always have a tape measure and something to write with in my truck.

Also since I figure it’s better to have it and not need, than the need it and not have it I always carry a concealed small pistol. I do have a license to carry it.

Two bottles of Jack, a switchblade, ski mask and a fresh roll of duct tape.

I go through the same subconcious list every day…......wallet, watch, keys, phone.

Small pocket knife that belonged to my dad, money clip/card and ID thingie in my pockets. 10’ tape measure, and a 9MM in the truck…sometimes carried out of the truck. Always got pens, pencils and paper in the truck’s console.

Well, I always have my iPhone so I don’t need pencil and paper. A Swiss Army knife (indispensible in the telephony and in the woodworking world) on a keychain with a small flat flashlight, my Nitrostat, and a spare house key. My keychain is a must. A 6’ small tape measure is always in my purse, and a 16’ in my truck.

there is a whole “culture forming around “Every Day Carry””:

I keep a pocket knife and pen and small notepad on me at all times… and depending on where I’m headed I might throw a flashlight, tape measure, water bottle or more in my bag.

Pocket knife, iTouch, 6’ Tape measure, my latest token, keys and lately, an LED flashlight.

Not sure if it is my age or what but the flashlight gets used 6 or 7 times a day. I use to laugh at Gill and the gang using flashlights in lit rooms but I have found that it helps direct my attention and I can see what I am looking at.

I have a pocket-knife that I bought in the PX at Ft Carson back in 1968 … never go anyplace without it.

I keep a 3’ and a 10’ tape measure in the console of my Jeep … never go into a millwork shop or lumber store without one or the other.
