Topic tags/keywords: repair technique

I have some wooden garage doors that are some type of Vineer with a stain and topcoat finish. Some of the areas are beginning to get an alligator look and so I need to repair the finish and don’t want to strip and refinish the whole door. Someone told me about mixing matching stain and Polly together in a 50-50 mixture to make a glaze and just glaze over the whole door after sanding the affected areas. Does that make sense and is that a viable way to work on these finish flaws? What would you suggest?
