We are putting together an outdoor cooking area for a section we have bought up north and wondering about how to go about the “outdoor” durability side of things.

We have bought a stainless bench with a sink in it and the general idea is to build a frame, wrap the back of the frame in plywood and possibly leave it like this or face it with something (if anyone has any ideas for that…?)
Under the front of the bench we wanted lockable cupboards, big enough to contain a small bench top BBQ (weber baby-q to be exact). I was just wondering if we made it out of plywood, would it really last out in the weather? It is covered but NZ does see sideways rain once in a while.

I’m gagging for an excuse to buy a new tig welder so would consider stainless as an option too. What do you guys think?
