i am usually more of a skeptic than what most would consider healthy but i found a crapload of tools on craigslist. it read “tablesaw, bandsaw, jointer, planer, floor drillpress & many hand tools, $1”. so i contacted the guy on the 19th. he said he was out of town until the 26th. he never called me until today to tell me he hadn’t forgot about me, that he just got back in town and i could come get the tools. well before i drove all the way to cocoa i wanted to confirm this was all for $1. he said hell no. i told him that the ad said it was and he said he would have to repost it all. i was bummed. so bummed i didn’t even ask what he wanted for the bandsaw which is what i was looking for in the first place.

i just figured maybe he was liquidating a cabinet shop and didn’t care what he got for it or going through a nasty divorse and dumping the stuff before his wife got it all. or something. didn’t want to be my normal skeptic self.

live and learn.

It’s pretty common to see the $1 listed on multi lot items because you have to list a price. Usually once you open the listing the seller then lists individual prices. I’ve seen people say may offer as well but the $1 on CL usually never means one dollar.

If it quacks like a duck and smells like crap… is probably a duck standing in crap.

Does CL default to $1 if you don’t post a price?
