Topic tags/keywords: kitchen island wheels wine rack dimensional lumber

Hi guys,

I’m drawing a blank when it come to designing a kitchen island with the following features

Wine rack ( not on the ends but within the main space inside the legs )
Open concept in that I kind of don’t want panels on the sides
Dimension 2’x4’W

I’ve scoured the internet but haven’t found what I need

Thanks as always Everyone

Here is my process to tackle this challenge;

Start with the things you know you will need for structure and sketch them on a piece of paper.

  • Legs w/wheels under them
  • Some kind of Stretcher or Rail system to connect the legs.
  • A secure wine rack system attached to the legs and rails – probably a wine ladder. (Or x-grid, or lattice, or swoops, whichever.)

Make multiple copies of this sketch.

Then step back and see what you can do with the aesthetic once the functionality is met.

Using the copy as a basis, fill in the blanks two or three different ways, or more, until you come across one that you really like.

  • Make detailed drawings of the winning idea.
  • Build it.

EDIT: Don’t be afraid to sleep on it. A lot of inspiration comes to me whilst I dream.
