Anyone know where I can purchase single sheets of plastic laminate (Formica). Preferably not full sheets, as I want it for some projects for the shop, not a countertop. Have not been able to find in the big box stores where I live, so was wondering if there is anyplace on line. Only ones I found so far are for bigger orders of full sheets. Thanks

A 30×96 sheet is $33 at Home Depot – order it and have it shipped to the store if they don’t carry it (it should come in a roll so transporting it should be easy peasy). You’ll use it up eventually.

I picked up some at Menards. It’s in the counter top area.

I always look in the laminate area of my Lowe’s to look for damaged sheets, they will be heavily discounted. I’ve done most of my shop furniture that way.

I have bunches of scrap I could give you, but it would probably cost you more to come and get than to buy new.
Unless you wanted it cut into small pieces to fit into a USPS flat rate box?

Thanks everyone. I’ll keep checking those stores, might have missed seeing their stock, and will check Home Depot on line. Thanks again.

My local Lowes stocks white matte laminate. My local Home Depot does not stock any.

Usually Lowe’s and Home Depot don’t stock a lot of laminate but they can get it for you same day from a local wholesale supplier.
A store can’t stock all types so the use the warehouse of the local wholesale for stock.

Where I live, some big box stores have it in stock and some do not. Look online at Lowes or Home Depot website, then check local availability. This will help you find the stores that have it in stock.

I wanted a particular pattern so I ordered it shipped to the store, to avoid shipping costs.

Check with local cabinet companies. Some will give you scraps big enough for shop fixtures or they may sell you the sizes you need.

As above, for scraps your best be is probably a local cabinet shop. If you live in Western Washington I’ll give you enough blue laminate to cover every wall in your house..or darn near. God I want to get rid of this stuff.

If you want some alternatives to the big box store, you can also check out cabinet supply wholesalers or Flooring wholesalers. Most of them will setup a cash account for you so you don’t need to have a commercial business licence for a one time sale.

The down side is that they only sell full sheets, the up side (?) if you can call it that, is that depending on the manufacturer 4×8 is not a full sheet. Depending on mfg and the color it can be anything from 3×8, 3×10, 3×12 to 4’ wide to 5’ wide. I have even bought 24”wide by up to 120” for countertops and that was a standard size, and not a custom cut.

4×8 is just what the big box stores carry (in 4 standard colors). Also don’t get stuck on a generic term of Formica when calling around. that is like saying Kleenex, Drywall, or Corian. There are multiple manufacturers in Plastic Laminate that are just as much a standard as Formica.

Wilsonart, Pionite, Panolam, Nevamar, and some Formica come from the factory precut at 24” 36”, and 48” it all depends on the popularity of the color and pattern. Plain solid colors are your best bet for 24” or 36” wide new product. The newer and trendier the pattern, the larger the sheets and minimum orders typically.

No idea what State you are in, but around me I have a number of commercial wholesalers that will setup a cash account for woodworkers.

In Western Washington I use:
EB Bradley
Wanke Cascade
Sierra Forest Products

You can also Go to the manufacturers websites and each has a distributor network listed by State.

Good Luck!
