Is Bradford Pear safe for food and making kitchen utensils?

I’ve read that the seeds are poisonous (if eaten in large quantities), but never heard anything about the actual wood itself posing any health issues.

Yep! But ya better be aware that cutting the limbs can almost cause you the break an arm.

Turned some scoops from Bradford Pear didn’t apply a finish they been in use for many years. Like any wood dust is a problem but doubt will find Bradford Pear on any chart.

Another thought on that: a lot of fruit trees (peach, pear, cherry, etc) have seeds (pits) that are “poisonous” if you eat a large amount of them – they break down in the stomach and cause cyanide to form through a reaction process. However, I’m guessing that this is a totally different case than using the wood, and not directly consuming it either.
