I have a few old stains on my study table. How can I remove them without spoiling its finishing ?

What kind of stains? Spills, water rings?

Yes, you will have to provide some details. What kind of finish does the table have. How old is it.

How about posting some pictures of the stains. This will help determine what kind of problem(s) you are experiencing.

It is a wooden table about 10 years old. The stains are like ink and some eatables. Also there are some black dirt spots on its edges.

I have tried using warm water with some detergent. It has reduced the stains but they are still there.
What else can I do ?
