Not really a tool gloat but on my way home a fella had what looked lik a decent toolbox setting out by the road with the trash. Raced home an got my truck An went back. It was still there’s so I knocked on the the door. Lady said her husband had clean out his garage An wanted rid of it and that if I wanted it it was free. I got it home. Works good. Can’t find anything wrong with it at all. First time I’ve got lucky like that -- Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with all thy might |

Nice score! A couple of years ago a neighbor put a Generac generator out on the curb. I talked to him and he said that it wouldn’t start and he didn’t want to mess with it and if I wanted it to take it. Got it home, cleaned the carb…..BAM, fired right up. Sold it two days later off of Craigslist for $500. |

Nice score. Around here it wouldn’t have lasted long enough to get your truck. -- Rick M, http://thewoodknack.blogspot.com/ |

The law of averages says that everyone will be lucky once or twice. Nice to see that something so useful fell from the sky into the OP’s lap. I’d be happy to find a toolbox like this (or the generator cited above), but so far I’ve had to settle for smaller things, like a Stanley 78 given to me by a friend who doesn’t care for woodworking, a Keen Kutter #5 from my brother who found it in his new old house, and then a Stanley #45 branded as Craftsman with nearly all of the parts and cutters for $12 (guy selling it said “take it, I’m a machinist, not a carpenter” so I did). -- - Crud. Go tell your mother that I need a Band-aid. |

it’s really amazing what people will throw away. i’ve gotten some decent kid’s bikes and razor scooters from the trash. also an elliptical machine and a treadmill. fixed the elliptical machine with a $2 bolt and sold the treadmill on CL for $40. |

Rick- yeah I figured it would b gone by the time I got back. It took me mayb 15-20min to get back there. It was flat pouring the rain is the only reason I’d say it wasn’t gone -- Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with all thy might |

It’s not totally free, because its taking up space in your garage. And it will take time to figure out where it goes and what’s going to go into it, and then get stuff into it and get comfortable using it. That being said, I would have done exactly what you did, dragged the thing home and then figure out what to do with it. Congrats. |
