Topic tags/keywords: planer broken rattle crack dw734

I have a DW734. It started making a loud rattling sound while on. I opened it up and the belt had worked itself loose. I put the belt back on, but the rattle continued. On closer inspection, the pulley on the blade side seemed to be rotating non-circularly. Then I looked closer, and the pulley looked cracked on the inside (See Picture in imgur album). Also, a small part that looks like some sort of set-something fell out.

Any thoughts?

It looks like the key in the pics. That couldn’t have been good.

Also, somehow the nut worked itself loose because I finally found it on the shop floor… i don’t know if that was cause or result (but I assume cause??)

The nut probably worked it’s way loose.

check the woodruff key for damage and be sure everything is properly mated in assembly and tighten it. you should be good to go.

-- nice recovery, They should pay extra for that mistake, Eric E.
