Hi all,

I have a question for anybody that has the Delta 80-760 dust collector with the 1 micron bag. Has anybody replaced the bag to the Wynn canister filter? If so do you see a major improvement or is it one of those upgrades that you feel you could have skipped?

The reason I am asking is i have been toying with upgrading to the cartridge. If you beat the bayou get plumes of dust. I do have some dust on things and I am looking at cutting down on dust. I found that MDF is the biggest issue with dust, plywood not so much.

I just plumbed the shop and have no leaks, have to seal the contractor saw I have, the DC works well with the bottom collection and collection off the SharkGaurd I have. I am planning on replacing the delta contractors saw in the next few months so if the filter really doesn’t make a huge difference I would rather save the cash and use it towards the new saw. I do have an air filter, no idea of CFM and I do use a box fan with a HEPA filter.

Looking forward to input, and thanks.

I added the filter and it helped in adding suction as well as reducing airborne dust getting past the bag. I then made a Thein baffle/separator which reduced the suction back to what it was without the Wynn filter. Virtually nothing gets in the bag now until my collection can gets too full.

What horsepower is that Delta? It’s funny…just won a 1HP Delta DC at an auction for $10 this weekend. Now I have 2 DC’s :)
If it is a 1.5 – 1 HP, consider this: do you forsee getting super serious with dust collection later on? You already have a 1 micron bag (that is not too shabby) for healthy. I would be hesitant to buy a Wynn filter for a DC that I may consider upgrading to a larger unit later. But then again, cabillions and zagzillions of harbor freight 1.5HP modifications here with Wynn filter with happy results.

The Delta is a 1.5 hp. Just plumbed everything very short runs of PVC, debating on upgrading the filter and was looking to see if it was really worth the upgrade. For MDF I think yes, for plywood maybe not. I don’t plan on using MDF anymore since it creates so much dust.

I say for table sawing MDF, buy a craigslist junker for $50 and cut outside. Tis why I kept my Bosch 4100 (to be mobile) even though I have 2 cabinet saws inside.

I have a Delta + 1 micron bag and it’s fine. I don’t get plumes of dust but I don’t think it’s necessary to beat it like an old rug. You just need to get some cake off every once in a great while, you don’t want it clean.
